The farm has been owned and operated by Ismael Hassen Aredo and his family since 2012 and stretches between the villages of Taro and Sewana.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eThe farm covers around 500 hectares, with approximately 300 hectares planted with coffee at elevations reaching 2,200 metres above sea level. The remaining land is largely preserved forest. Coffee grows under the shade of acacia and other indigenous trees, while an on-site nursery is used to cultivate both coffee seedlings and native shade trees.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eUnlike many Ethiopian coffees, which are produced by combining cherries from numerous smallholders at a central washing station, Kayon Mountain manages both growing and processing on the farm. Ismael works with around 25 permanent employees and more than 300 seasonal workers during harvest. The farm also provides transportation for its workers and supports local communities through funding for schools and administrative buildings.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eFor this natural lot, ripe cherries of local Ethiopian varieties are carefully selected before being dried in the sun on raised African beds.
